The Artsy Disembodied Horse Head

My daughter, Kay took some fun pictures at Grandpa Austin's barn. One in particular turned out in an interesting position for a horse's head as he looked around at the commotion.
Several treatments with photo shopping were another twist for the look of the disembodied horse head.

The kinds of things that artists do to "fool the eye" on canvas are some of these same kinds of fiddling to do on computer - softening lines, blurring, texturing, surprising uses color and more.

Photo-shopping is a 21st century roller-coaster ride and array of instancy in art.

As fun and amazing as the immediacy of computer enhancement is, there is still a lot to be said for good old fashioned oil paint and brush on a canvas.
For more photos of our trip to the ranch and of this artsy horse go check out Grandpa's famous "give the grandkid a jaunt around the gravel pile in front of the barn, provided specifically and only for the purpose of taking pictures to put in their book somewhere. 'See, you have ridden a horse and even though you don't remember it, we have the proof.'"
