Arizona had an impressive storm yesterday. There were flash flood warnings starting Sunday night and yesterday. When I was hearing the "National Weather Service" warnings on the radio for Gila county and places north of Phoenix and over the Rim, it was sunny and bright outside here. Yesterday afternoon I was out and about and the wind had picked up to a brutal pace and I was glad to get back home. About 10:00 last night we had hail pelting the windows and then a solid snow. Very unusual was a barage of thunder that sounded with the snowstorm. It looks like we got about 2 inches for which we are grateful. We don't ever get enough moisture while yesterday in areas of our state there was hefty flooding in desert realms. People who didn't take warnings seriously were washed off the roads. The deluge was keeping others from getting back home across flooded low spots which are normally dry as a bone. I guess the dryness of a bone is relative and highly debatable, but you get the picture.

When we went to bed last night, the storm had calmed except for a still stiff breeze, very cold. Looking out our bedroom window, there was a red glow from the sodium vapor lights, a red glow in the sky giving the snow a red hue. That was eery looking and you will have to take my word for it. I haven't learned to take time lapse photos. I tried to take a photo a couple of weeks ago which didn't work. This is taken with a flash which didn't show the cool shadow.
I need to go read the dreaded directions for the camera!
I need to go read the dreaded directions for the camera! For the last 2 full moon cycles this winter, I have observed out our back window the shadows cast by the moon as it travels across the night sky. Because the moonlit places in the yard have been luminescent, the shadows from the pear tree have been so amazing to see at various hours of the night. I am going to attempt to paint both the full-moonscapes and the sodium-vaporscapes which have been so eerily pretty.

Wish we had some snow down here to play in... We got some rain on Sunday and it rain all sunday and sunday night and part of Monday morning. It was nice to have the moisture but snow would've been better! Too bad it will be gone by the time we come in a couple weeks!
